Abdullah Al-Harbi Awarded FIABCI Medal of Honor in Singapore

Singapore hosted the 74th FIABCI World Real Estate Congress from May 27 to 31, 2024, bringing together ministers, CEOs, FIABCI presidents from over 40 countries, members of the global federation, as well as leading business figures and investors.

During the congress, Mr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, President of the Saudi Arabia Chapter of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), was awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest distinction granted by the organization. The award was presented by the FIABCI World President in recognition of the Saudi chapter’s outstanding contributions to the federation.

Notably, this marks the first time an Arab country has received this honor since FIABCI’s establishment in 1951.

The congress focused on knowledge exchange, global networking within the real estate community, and sharing expertise on industry challenges, investment opportunities, and evolving economic trends in professional real estate marketing. It also addressed the future of real estate through sustainable solutions, global best practices, and the development of socially responsible, resilient communities, while emphasizing talent development across the sector.

The participation of the FIABCI Saudi Arabia Chapter aimed to strengthen alignment between market needs and global partnerships, supporting the development of a successful, sustainable, and innovation-driven real estate industry. This comes at a time when Saudi Arabia’s real estate sector is undergoing significant regulatory and legislative transformation in line with Vision 2030 objectives.

Commenting on the participation, Mr. Al-Harbi stated that the Saudi delegation’s involvement in both the congress and the FIABCI General Assembly achieved its objectives, highlighting the impactful presence of both the Saudi chapter and the Real Estate General Authority. He noted that Saudi Arabia’s experience in real estate development—spanning large-scale public and private projects as well as advanced regulatory frameworks—was effectively showcased, contributing to attracting high-quality investments.

On the sidelines of the congress, several high-level meetings were held, including a meeting with Singapore’s Minister for Finance and National Development, who was invited to participate in the fourth edition of the Real Estate Future Forum, scheduled to take place in Riyadh from January 27 to 29, 2025, with broad local and international participation.

The congress also hosted the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards ceremony in Singapore. In parallel, discussions were held regarding the criteria and categories of the Real Estate Excellence Award, which was announced in Saudi Arabia during the Global Leadership Summit held in Riyadh in December 2023. Further details on the award structure and participation mechanisms will be announced in due course. Winners will be eligible to compete at the global level through FIABCI’s international awards platform.

The FIABCI Saudi office, recently established in Riyadh, has launched several initiatives in media and leadership development, which contributed to its recognition during the Singapore congress. The Riyadh summit also witnessed the launch of the Oxford Future of Real Estate Programme, delivered by the University of Oxford in partnership with Eye of Riyadh, the Real Estate Future Forum, and FIABCI.

This pioneering program offers a six-week intensive training experience accessible globally, combining real-world case studies, insights from industry experts, and exclusive academic perspectives from Oxford. Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of market trends, investment evaluation models, and key sector dynamics. Graduates receive an official Oxford certificate, access to the Oxford alumni network, and membership in the Oxford Executive Education Alumni group on LinkedIn. The program is available to FIABCI members, with enrollment facilitated through the Riyadh office.

FIABCI is recognized as one of the world’s leading global real estate organizations, bringing together professionals across the entire property ecosystem. Founded in 1940 in France, the federation represents approximately 1.5 million members across 70 countries. It provides a global platform for knowledge exchange, international business opportunities, and professional collaboration. FIABCI is also a member of the International Ethics Standards Coalition and a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact.
