Abdullah Al-Harbi Participates in the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF) in Cairo

Mr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, President of the Saudi Arabia Chapter of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), participated in the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF), held in Cairo, Egypt, from November 4 to 8, 2024. The forum witnessed strong local, regional, and international participation, bringing together representatives from national, regional, and local governments, alongside academics, business leaders, urban planners, civil society representatives, and global thought leaders.

The World Urban Forum (WUF) is recognized as a major global platform driving transformative change, aimed at fostering collaboration and synergy among stakeholders to advance sustainable urban development at both regional and international levels. It also addresses critical global challenges, particularly the housing crisis, one of the most pressing issues facing the world today, through the participation of leading experts across scientific, intellectual, and urban disciplines.

Commenting on his participation, Al-Harbi stated that the involvement of the FIABCI Saudi office reflects its commitment to engaging with leading global and regional platforms, as well as strengthening dialogue with international thought leaders to exchange insights and proposals. He noted the forum’s significant scale, highlighting the participation of thousands of influential figures who contributed to its impactful outcomes, and commended Egypt’s successful organization of the event.

Al-Harbi added: “Our participation in this global forum was highly productive. We held several meetings with international leaders and key stakeholders on the sidelines, discussing a range of topics. We also extended invitations to prominent figures to participate in major upcoming events hosted by Saudi Arabia, most notably the fourth edition of the Real Estate Future Forum, which will take place in Riyadh in January 2025.”

He described the Real Estate Future Forum as one of the leading global platforms addressing the real estate ecosystem and its technologies, while exploring both current developments and future directions, as well as showcasing best practices from across the industry.

The World Urban Forum (WUF), established in 2001, is one of the United Nations’ premier conferences focused on sustainable urban development. Held biennially, the forum aims to address the challenges of global urbanization, facilitate knowledge exchange, and build partnerships that support solutions to major global issues, including the housing crisis, climate change, conflict, and poverty. Since its inception, WUF has played a key role in supporting the work of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) by gathering data, strengthening alliances, and advancing sustainable urban solutions worldwide.
