FIABCI APREC and Young Leaders Forum 2019
“Prospering Cities through Alignment on Disruptive Technology” was the theme behind this year’s edition of the Asia Pacific Real Estate Congress & FIABCI Young Leaders Forum 2019 that took place in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 13 and 14. The two-day event’s main focus was to identify ways to foster urban development in the region through property technology as well as find prospective partners within the real estate sector to acomplish that goal.
Guest of honor World President Walid Moussa participated in the traditional strinking of the gong that marked the opening ceremony, in the presence of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basoeki Hadimoeljono and the Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini. In his opening remarks, Mr. Moussa talked about the opportunity and challenges of the real estate market in the Asia Pacific region, in particular urban prosperity and the need for affordable housing, sharing with the audience FIABCI's global projects such as The City Prosperity Initiative and Perception Index and the publications "The City We Need is Affordable" that are in line with the aforementioned topics.
On the first day, a comprehensive list of high-level speakers, including government representatives and industry leaders from Indonesia and around the world delivered keynote speeches and took part in panel discussions and seminars, whereas on day two participants had a packed agenda with project visits that included office blocks, hotels and shopping malls: Bumi Serpong Damai, Gallery Ceramic, Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), Mega Kuningan Area, Raffles Hotel, and Lotte Shopping Mall.
There was a broad range of conferences available, from "New Capital City: Lessons Learned from Other Countries" to "Region Prosperity Through New Town Developments", delivered by a diverse group of key players from reputable institutions: Ciputra Group, Property Guru, Asia PropTech, among many others.
Outside of the Hotel Borobudur, where the first day of the conference took place, there was plenty on the FIABCI World President and members' plate as well: a lunch meeting organized by World President 1989-1990 Ir. Ciputra, a lunch meeting organized by the Lebanese Embassy in Indonesia, a dinner meeting organized by the Ciputra Group and, last but not least, a Gala Dinner, in the presence of Minister of Agriculture and Land Planning Sofyan Djalil.
