FIABCI Scholarship Foundation Announces New Phase in Development
Kicking off a new phase in development, the FIABCI Scholarship Foundation raised over $4,000 in donations in December at an art auction at the FIABCI Global Business Summit in Ghent, Belgium. In addition the Trustee held discussions with FIABCI World Leadership to begin working more closely with the Headquarters in Paris to expand the Foundation’s reach to include a wider geographic representation of donors and support for the next generation of cross‐border real estate professionals.
FIABCI‐Belgium hosted the art auction that included original art works created and donated by three Belgian artists. The lively auction was gaveled by FIABCI‐Australia President Greg Young. During the Summit, the Trustees met to consider the fall round of applicants and is pleased to announce four new grants. These outstanding students have shown academic achievement, clear international goals, financial need and a history of community involvement:
Abia State University, Uturu, Department of Estate Management, Nigeria
- Ndudirim Nwogu is pursuing his PhD. in Estate Management and has published several papers on
urban residential real estate in Nigeria as well as the effects of tourism on coastal infrastructure.
Georgetown University, School of Continuing Education
- Julianna Hess will complete her Master’s in Real Estate in the spring of 2020 and is focused on the
intersection of real estate, infrastructure, technology and sustainability and plans to develop
cross‐border investment through crowdfunding. - Zheng Lyu from Beijing plans to return to China after completing her Master’s to work in the
emerging field of Senior Housing. - Nicholas Yager will use his Master’s to implement ideas regarding technology, transportation and
sustainable building in the construction industry in developing countries.
Grants are awarded twice each year with application deadlines March 30 and September 30. A Board of Trustees of FIABCI members from Australia, Germany, Italy, the Philippines, Taiwan and the United States reviews the applications and determines the award recipients.
