FIABCI Applauds UAE Consensus at COP28 and Achieves Observer Status at UNFCCC
FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, commends the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the consensus reached at the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) on December 12. In a resounding call to action, FIABCI urges all stakeholders to unite, act, and work collaboratively towards the successful implementation of the agreement (and its subsequent phases).
Exciting news follows as COP28 officially admitted FIABCI to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) process as an observer organization. This recognition marks a significant milestone in FIABCI's commitment to actively contribute to global climate initiatives.
FIABCI's World President, Budiarsa Sastrawinata, and Secretary-General Narek Arakelyan were honored to attend COP28, which coincided with the 42nd FIABCI Global Leadership Summit, in person following the successful General Assembly in Riyadh. Their presence reaffirmed FIABCI's dedication to shaping a sustainable future through innovative approaches to real estate and urban development.
Adding to the series of accomplishments, FIABCI, represented by International Organizations Committee President Dr. Mahmoud AlBurai, took the opportunity to host two impactful COP28 parallel events, including #HousingMatters, in collaboration with UN-Habitat and other important global partners. These sessions sparked crucial discussions on sustainable development, innovation in urban planning, and the importance of global cooperation in addressing housing challenges.
FIABCI World President Budiarsa Sastrawinata provided valuable insights into the organization's latest updates and contributions to the sector. His input highlighted FIABCI's ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable practices and fostering resilience within the real estate and urban development landscape.
FIABCI expresses gratitude for the collaborative efforts with like-minded organizations, emphasizing the shared mission of creating greener, more resilient cities for future generations. The organization looks forward to continued collaboration, working hand in hand with partners worldwide to promote sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities and communities.
