Over 450 delegates from 31 countries attend 73rd FIABCI World Congress

The 73rd FIABCI World Real Estate Congress, held from 5 to 9 June at the Nobu Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, witnessed the participation of over 450 delegates from 31 foreign countries, including representatives from 22 FIABCI Chapters. This marked a significant milestone as the event was hosted by the MIAMI Association of REALTORS®, making it the first time a local Realtor association served as the host.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush was among the 50 world-class speakers who delivered presentations on a wide range of topics. These included foreign investment trends, sustainable architecture, as well as emerging fields such as crypto/blockchain and artificial intelligence. Despite the diversity of subjects, all discussions revolved around a common theme: "Building Better Lives," which encapsulated the spirit of this year's World Congress. Notable speakers included Chief White House Correspondent Mike Emanuel, CEO of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) Gunnar Branson, author of "24-hour Cities" Hugh Kelly, and architects like Luca Bigliardi of PRINCIPIOATTIVO Architecture Group, Amanda Bonvecchio of Vagabond Group, Ivo Fernandez of Modis Architects, Kurt Dannwolf of ODP Architects. Prominent brokers Rei Mesa of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Mike Pappas of the Keyes Company, Jay Philip Parker of Douglas Elliman, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava, and developers Edgardo Defortuna of Fortune International, Dev Motwani of Merrimac Ventures, David Martin of Terra Group, and Camilo Miguel of Mast Capital also shared their expertise.

Delegates had the opportunity to engage in various activities during the event, including business networking receptions, luxury property tours, and social tours of Miami's iconic neighbourhoods, venues, and attractions. These experiences allowed them to immerse themselves in the best Miami has to offer.

A highlight of the World Congress was the FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner, which honoured exceptional achievements in the real estate industry. Notably, the event saw the inclusion of two new countries, Georgia and Italy, reflecting the growing global presence and influence of the real estate sector. The full list of this year's winners is available here.

In addition, internal meetings and proceedings were held as part of FIABCI’s annual events. These included the Board of Directors Meetings and the General Assembly, which took place on the last day of the World Congress. During the General Assembly, councils and committees presented their reports and updated the assembly on current affairs. A bilateral cooperation agreement between FIABCI and the Appraisal Institute was also signed, enhancing collaboration, and building upon past achievements.

Elections were conducted in person, resulting in the appointment of Antonio Campagnoli as Vice-President Elect, Adele Adeniji as the Africa & Near East Committee President, and Rajeev Rajpal as a Board Member. Their dedication and expertise are expected to propel the organisation to new heights alongside the Board of Directors for the term 2023-2024.

Furthermore, three new chapters were ratified by the General Assembly and joined the global FIABCI community, officially receiving their respective flags on 9 June: FIABCI-Saudi Arabia, FIABCI-Peru, and FIABCI-Venezuela. The growth and success of these new chapters are a priority for FIABCI, and we look forward to their active participation within the community.

Last, but not least, Budiarsa Sastrawinata was officially installed as the FIABCI World President for the term 2023-2024. Congratulations were extended to Mr Sastrawinata on assuming this position, and anticipation for a productive and successful term under his leadership, alongside the newly elected Board of Directors, Councils, and Committees, was expressed.

We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to Susan Greenfield, who served as the FIABCI World President from 2022 to 2023. Her remarkable dedication and contributions have made the past year exceptionally rewarding.
