Global Leadership Summit: Important Update on COVID-19 Measures and Visa Exemption Programme
Taiwan will end its mandatory COVID-19 quarantine for arrivals from 13 October and welcome tourists back, the government said today, completing a major step on its plan to re-open the country to the outside world.
A series of other measures came into force on Thursday 29 September 2022, including the end of PCR tests for arrivals and the resumption of visa-free entry for citizens of all countries that previously had that status.
Nationals from these countries began receiving visa-free privileges valid for 90 days on 12 September: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Eswatini*, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras*, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Marshall Island*, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia*(effective till March 31, 2025), Norway, Palau, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tuvalu*, the United Kingdom, the United States of America*, and Vatican City.
Nationals from these diplomatic allies of Taiwan became eligible for the visa exemption programme with a duration of stay of up to 90 days on 12 September: Belize, Nauru, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Nationals from these countries will begin receiving visa-free privileges valid for 90 days on 29 September: Chile, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and Nicaragua.
Nationals of the following countries will be eligible for the visa exemption programme valid for 30 days on 29 September: Dominican Republic, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Nationals of Thailand will be eligible for the visa exemption programme valid for 14 days on 29 September.
Nationals of Brunei will be eligible for the visa exemption programme valid for 14 days on 29 September.
Nationals of the Philippines will be eligible for the visa exemption programme valid for 14 days on 29 September.
