2018 - Fifth FIABCI Prix d'Excellence
Berlin, 05.11.2018. This year’s winners of the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Germany have been announced: gold was won by upTOWNHOUSES in Hamburg in the category residential and UPPER WEST in Berlin in the category commercial. The award ceremony of the competition for project developments, which is organized by the BFW Bundesverband Freier Immobilien- und Wohnungsunternehmen and FIABCI, took place on 2 November at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin. Both winning projects will now be submitted as German entries in the 2019 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards, which will be presented in Moscow next May.
The submitted developments have a total project volume of around 650 million euros. From this more than 1,300 privately financed and publicly subsidized apartments and student apartments as well as several ten thousand square meters of commercial space were built.
From this year's entries from 11 cities, the following project developments have received the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Germany Award:

Silver: The Wooden Hybrid - Micro Housing for Students, Berlin
Bronze: KunstCampus, Berlin
- Category Commercial:
Gold: UPPER WEST, Berlin
Silver: A Bit Mo ', Berlin
Bronze: DIGITAL CHURCH, Aachen
Michael Heming, President of FABCI Germany and member of the jury, referred to the high quality of the awarded projects: "Gala and competition reflect the high level, indeed the world class, of German project developments. Our domestic market is highly interesting, and we are proud to present the best German project developments. "
Andreas Ibel, President of the BFW Bundesverbandes Freier Immobilien- und Wohnungsunternehmen and member of the jury, congratulated the participants and referred to the importance of project developments for the lives of the residents and users. "The winners of the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence have been showing for five years that successful project development is not just about building a property. Rather, it is about creating a home, geared to the needs and lives of the people in them and integrated into spatial and social contexts such as the neighborhood in the city or the neighborhood in the countryside."
For the third time, the "FIABCI / BFW Special Award for Affordable Building" was awarded in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Construction. Patron and State Secretary Gunther Adler presented the special prize to the AIRHOME project in Mönchengladbach. Adler and the jury praised the fact that the project created "fair" and therefore affordable housing for all with optimized planning and standardized apartment types.
In order to promote outstanding projects with innovative energy concepts, the "VATTENFALL Special Award Energy" was also awarded. The project concrete apartment cologne received the prize. A smart control system regulates, directs and records energy data in the project and evaluates current consumption. With the data architecture, an energy monitoring for the entire house can be performed.
