FIABCI's International Trade Mission 2023: Advancing 'Green Cities for a Greener Future' in Jakarta
Following the initiative of World President Budiarsa Sastrawinata, FIABCI held an International Trade Mission in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 17 to 19 September 2023. The three-day event was supported by Ciputra Group, a long-time partner of FIABCI.
Delegates from 20 countries attended the mission, which witnessed the largest turnout in several years with significant participation of the local sector to discuss and support "Green Cities for the Greener Future", the main theme of the investment forum and highlight of the event. Other activities of the trade mission included social and property tours to several renowned places such as the Ciputra Artpreneur Museum, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta Old Town, and Sarinah Indonesia, among others. As customary, internal FIABCI procedures, particularly the Board Meeting and Executive Committee meetings, took place during this time as well.
Investment Forum
During the investment forum, held on day 3 of the trade mission, delegates were able to engage in meaningful dialogues, connect with influential industry figures, and cultivate partnerships to propel the real estate sector towards greater success.
FIABCI was honoured with the presence of government representatives, including Airlangga Hartarto (Coordinating Minister for the Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia), Bambang Susantono (Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority), Joko Suranto (Chairman of the Indonesian Real Estate Association), Yudha Mediawan (Head of the Regional Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Housings and Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia), and Arsjad Rasjid (Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
Green Cities for a Greener Future
The first session explored the vision of crafting sustainable, eco-conscious and intelligent urban centres, aligning seamlessly with the global trend towards a more eco-friendly future. Bambang Susantono provided a significant update regarding the advancement of Nusantara New Capital City, one of the most ambitious and intricate modern capital city projects globally. He underscored Nusantara's pivotal role in Indonesia's 2045 vision and its significance as a key economic centre in Southeast Asia. Marcia Yu, representing the International Finance Corporation, and Daijiro Eguchi, representing Mitsui Fudosan, took the stage to deliver insightful presentations. Marcia Yu discussed the intricacies of green financing, shedding light on innovative approaches and strategies to support environmentally sustainable initiatives. On the other hand, Daijiro Eguchi delved into the realm of green mixed-use development projects, sharing valuable insights and experiences in creating harmonious urban spaces that prioritise sustainability and eco-friendliness.

The second session delved into crucial property ownership regulations and essential knowledge for international investors. Experts from Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia provided the latest regulatory updates in their respective countries.
