FIABCI-Taiwan successfully hosted the award ceremony for its annual Real Estate Excellence Awards on September 23rd at Hyatt Regency Taipei. A total of more than 200 property development and public infrastructure projects were recognized for their outstanding achievements in creative design, construction quality, daily upkeep, and maintenance as well as societal and environmental benefits. Due to the ongoing global pandemic, social distancing was strictly enforced and the ceremony lasted a total of 6 hours.
In her opening remarks, FIABCI-Taiwan President Lily Chang especially thanked the contestants and judges for their efforts, as the judging process was done amid the COVID-19 pandemic. President Chang also restated some of the key issues that we hope the winning projects can provide solutions to, including climate change, aging society as well as the opportunities brought by Industry 4.0.
FIABCI 2021-2022 World President Jordi Ribo, in his congratulatory message, reaffirmed FIABCI’s goal in delivering a better quality of life through visionary architectural design and state-of-the-art construction materials and methods, and he invited winners of this year’s FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Awards to consider competing in the upcoming 2022 FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards.
Taiwan’s Vice President William Lai, on the other hand, reiterated the importance of resilient buildings and lifestyle. As we face the challenges brought by the global pandemic, it is imperative that we break away from the traditional home vs. office mindset and make sure that our buildings become resilient. Vice President Lai also mentioned the need to expedite the regeneration process in many of the urban centers, so that our cities can better cope with modern challenges.
This year marks the 16th anniversary of the FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Awards, and FIABCI-Taiwan is planning to hold its Prix d’Excellence Info Session at Mandarin Oriental Taipei on October 8th.
