UNECE Elects Irena Perfanova as Chair of Real Estate Market Advisory Group
On November 13, 2025, MEng, MSc Irena Perfanova was elected Chair of the Real Estate Market Advisory Group at UNECE.
The UNECE Real Estate Market Advisory Group is a team of specialists that assists the Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management and the Working Party on Land Administration in developing stronger housing and real estate markets.
The activities of the Advisory Group address the following topics:
- Energy-efficient housing
- Fire safety
- Affordable and social housing and real estate economics (including the sharing economy)
- Housing finance (including transparent and advanced financial products for housing)
- Management of multi-apartment buildings
- Property valuation and registration
- Smart and sustainable urban development
- Land markets and land administration
Irena Perfanova has been participating in the group as an expert since 2017. In 2018, under her leadership, UNECE, together with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of Bulgaria and the National Real Estate Association, held the workshop “My City, My Home, My Business” with over 300 participants.
She served as a FIABCI Board Member (2014–2018), President of FIABCI-Bulgaria (2011–2014), CEPI Board Member (2018–2025), and President of the National Real Estate Association in Bulgaria (2014–2018).
Her expertise and interests in the field of real estate have expanded over the years—from interior design to real estate trading and investment, appraisal practice, professional coaching, and, more recently, to the broader meaning of real estate, sustainable urban development, and policies that create a positive environment for living and doing business.
Irena Perfanova considers her participation in international organizations and UNECE a mission through which she aims to make a meaningful public contribution to a better and more sustainable world.
