Results of the 27th Hungarian Real Estate Development Award Competition

FIABCI-Hungary organized the Hungarian Real Estate Development Award Competition for the twenty-seventh time this year. The main patron of the competition was Regő Lánszki, State Secretary and National Chief Architect.

The FIABCI Hungarian Chapter and the supporters of the competition set the goal of ensuring that, despite increasingly difficult circumstances, this year’s submissions would be successful, demonstrating the strength of the Hungarian economy and our confidence in overcoming challenges. Real estate developers, contractors, and designers showed extraordinary activity under exceptional circumstances, and once again a strong and high-quality field of projects entered the competition.

In the six functional categories, as well as in the Heritage Protection and Environmentally Conscious Construction categories, the jury awarded winners in each category, as there were three or more entries in these groups. Previously, developments without at least three projects of similar function were at a disadvantage; since 2021, these projects have been classified as Special Developments.

In addition to the category winners, supporting organizations also presented special prizes. As per tradition, a special award selected by the applicants themselves was also given. Through a secret vote, applicants chose the reconstruction of the Royal Hungarian Ministry of Finance as the best project.

Among the submitted works, alongside private investments, significant state developments and projects initiated by local municipalities were also represented. The success of developments reflecting the careful protection of architectural heritage is remarkable.

The high standard of the submitted projects demonstrates that Hungarian developers create strong concepts, and designers, contractors, and all contributors execute them at an outstanding level. Even the projects that finished behind the winners in this close competition represent exceptional quality. Their creators have produced excellent buildings and contributed significantly to the renewal of their municipalities.

Since the beginning of the competition, Austrian expert Brigitte Jank and Slovak expert Adriena Litomericka have supported the work of the jury. Since 2021, thanks to online opportunities, the number of international jury members has increased significantly. This year, the evaluation committee consisted of 17 international and 16 Hungarian jury members.

The jury once again faced a very difficult task, as the competition was extremely tight overall and in every category. After thorough analysis, they selected the winners.

All submitted projects are presented on the website www.fiabcimagyarorszag.hu and in the book summarizing the history of the competition and this year’s event, where everyone can view the outstanding value of the developments entered.
