Presidential Visits' Global Outreach: Strengthening Ties and Promoting Sustainable Real Estate Initiatives
Since assuming the office of FIABCI World President last month, Budiarsa Sastrawinata has already embarked on a few official visits, each aimed at fostering cooperation and advancing sustainable development in the real estate sector. The newly installed World President has also been actively engaging with local chapters and key stakeholders to promote FIABCI's work.
The U.S. marked Mr Sastrawinata's inaugural official visit, where he had the opportunity to visit the United Nations Headquarters and take part in a high-level session of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), dedicated to sustainable development, providing overall guidance and coordination. FIABCI obtained special consultative status at the United Nations ECOSOC on 31 May 1996.
The FIABCI World President also addressed the audience of the Real Estate in Action - Achieving SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, FIABCI and UN-Habitat's parallel event to the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The event targeted real estate and business partners to exchange on their roles to better advance SDG11, with a focus on resilient planning and design. Promoted under the World Urban Campaign, a global advocacy and partnership platform coordinated by UN-Habitat, Real Estate in Action also marked the launch of the Global Charter for Real Estate Professionals - Building Better Lives -, a collaborative effort between FIABCI and partners UN-Habitat, the 2000-Watt Smart Cities Association, and the Chaire ETI - IAE Paris Sorbonne School to raise awareness among real estate professionals about sustainable responsible real estate practices.
A few days later in Paris, World President Budiarsa Sastrawinata was warmly welcomed at the traditional FIABCI-France Business Networking event, hosted by Chapter President Léo Attias. The event also included World President Elect Ramon Riera Torroba, who shared valuable insights into the real estate landscape of Spain, and FIABCI-Belgium President, Joes van de Wouw, who provided an enlightening presentation on Belgium's real estate industry, particularly of the regions of Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia during the 2nd quarter of 2023.
Among the attendees of the FIABCI-France soirée was Olivier Morobé, Vice-President of the Professional Institute of Real Estate Brokers (IPI/BIV), representing the latest Principal Member of our Belgian Chapter.
